Data Officer – Job Summary

The Data Officer is responsible for collecting, managing, analyzing, and reporting accurate and timely data to support effective program implementation and decision-making. The role ensures that data is properly recorded, verified, stored, and maintained in accordance with organizational standards and data protection requirements.

The Data Officer will work closely with program teams and other stakeholders to monitor data quality, identify gaps or inconsistencies, prepare reports, and provide data-driven insights to support planning, monitoring, evaluation, and organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, enter, clean, and maintain program and operational data.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness of data.
  • Develop and maintain databases, data collection tools, and reporting systems.
  • Conduct routine data quality checks and resolve identified discrepancies.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports, dashboards, tables, and visualizations.
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to staff on data collection and management.
  • Maintain secure and organized electronic and physical data records.
  • Assist in developing data collection methodologies and procedures.
  • Support management with timely data and analysis for evidence-based decision-making.
  • Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of sensitive information.
  • Contribute to improving data management systems and processes.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Management, Information Management, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience in data collection, management, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data management systems.
  • Experience with statistical or visualization tools such as Power BI, SPSS, R, Python, or similar tools is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with different teams.
  • Strong commitment to data accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity.
